Marine Canvas and Upholstery

Quality craftsmanship | Integrity | Service

If you live anywhere along the Emerald Coast in Northwest Florida, chances are that you either have a boat of your own, or you know someone who does. The Niceville / Destin / Fort Walton Beach area is known for its beautiful beaches, Crab Island, the surrounding military bases, and all of the activities associated with boating.

In this area, on any given day, recreational boaters headed to Crab Island and water skiers, wakeboarders, tubers, jet skiers, recreational fishermen and commercial fishermen can all be enjoying the same waters. And while their activities may be vastly different, there’s definitely one thing that they’ll have in common at some point: the need for canvas and/ or upholstery repairs, or add-on canvas or upholstery.

When that time comes, they’ll want to choose well.

That can be difficult; there is a wide span of prices and commitment to good work.

At Flyte Marine Canvas, quality is important. I use high-quality canvas, vinyl, vis-screen, thread and techniques. With proper care and maintenance, this lengthens the lifespan of repairs or refurbishments. Yet, not all repairs need to be extensive or complicated. Sometimes, they just need to be smart.

What I Do

Canvas

  • Biminis
  • Dodgers
  • Enclosures with clear vinyl “vis-screens” ((“Vis-screens” = visibility screens = clear vinyl windows. Some use the manufacturer’s name such as Strataglass, or the German term, “eisenglass”, “isenglass” or “isinglass”.)
  • Supplementary sun shades
  • Canvas or Stamoid t-tops
  • Binnacle covers
  • Hatch covers

Upholstery

  • Exterior vinyl marine cushions; bow, helm seats and seatbacks, coaming bolsters (coaming pads), etc.
  • Interior cushions with vinyl, faux leather, and marine fabric
  • Foam replacement
  • Creative design

Boat Floor Coverings

  • Pontoon removable boat mats
  • Snap-in, removable boat floor coverings; bound and padded; made from heavy-duty, webbed nylon

Repairs

  • Canvas patches
  • Fastener replacements (caps and sockets, twist studs, Lift-the-Dot, double combo studs, etc.)
  • Vis-screen replacements
  • Replacement straps
  • Reinforcement stitching

Sometimes, a little more intricate design and a little more in labor will create what fits best with the colors and scheme of the boat. I’ll make recommendations and work with clients on what they want, if I can do it well and it makes sense.

Simple and classy or mac-daddy, tricked-out, eye-catching colors and fabrication, if you’d like me to have a look, let’s talk.
