Having grown up on the Inland Waterway and now as I live in Niceville, Florida, I’ve been around and owned boats for most of my life. With that, I’ve also learned first-hand about boat maintenance and upgrades.
Tears in vinyl become bigger. Foam gets water-logged. Canvas can rip. Vinyl becomes inelastic or stained. Thread gives up to the sun’s heat and UV rays. Snaps break or tear out. Clear vinyl can get scratched, brittle or just old. Stitching needs replacing. The boat’s a center console but there’s no shade and you want a t-top.
I’ve seen really great marine canvas and upholstery work. I’ve also seen not-so-good and really awful work.
I believe that time in your boat should be enjoyed and it’s easiest to do this when your boat accessories look good and operate as they should.
